Meet Layka!

Meet Layka Lee Wiltison! Also known as Poochie Poo. According to Lorraine, Layka is the most gorgeous Siberian Husky in the world! We at Colonial fully agree with this statement.

Look at her beautiful corresponding eye colors - 1 blue from her mom, 1 brown from her dad. Layka is 41 lbs. and was born January 21, 2007. She is a very petite husky. She has a black and white fluffy coat.

Lorraine found her at the mall with one floppy ear. They took her home the very next day, but not without a fight - there were many others willing to put money down for her.

Layka loves to cuddle and is convinced she is a human. She also strongly believes that she deserves to lay on laps on the nice couch and watch movies like a big girl.

Tiger is her best friend. Tiger has two squeakers, 3 legs, 1 tail, and he stinks. She also loves her pink soccer ball and would play striker if she were to play on a team.

Her favorite activity is searching for rabbit turds and playing in the snow. She LOVES the snow! She can smell the snow coming and stares out the window in excited anticipation.

One of Lorraine's favorite things about Layka is that she is like their child, and she prefers to "talk" instead of bark when she needs to prove a point. Instead of barking, she has different voice inflections that sound like she's talking! Lorraine swears that one day she clearly said, "I love you."

What would Layka like to purchase at Colonial Jewelers if she were able to?

Lorraine knows that Layka would want an Asscher-cut diamond ring set in platinum because it is unique and timeless. The platinum makes it last a lifetime!

Feel free to contact Lorraine and let her know your thoughts about Layka!

Meet Buffy!

Meet Buffalo Wing Misotti, better known as Buffy. Nancy purchased Buffy through a breeder in Urbana. She is a Brindle Bullmastiff weighing about 80 lbs. She will be a decade old this month!

She is a very loved member of the family and is very protective of them, especially her mama Nancy. She loves her sister Jamie and her brothers Eric and Danny. When the boys' friends are fooling around, she will snap at them to protect her family.

Although she is super protective, when at the vet, she sits in Nancy's lap and shakes.

Buffy is graying quickly on her face, and it is a reminder to the family to love her as much as they can while they have her.

Buffy's 3 favorite things in life (in this order) are food, sleep, and car rides. She loves the sound of lunch meat wrappers because she knows that a morsel will be dropped on the floor. She is partial to cheese and eggs.

A fun fact about Buffy: She could have performed on America's Funniest Videos because one time she dragged Nancy on her stomach through the park to chase another dog she thought was a threat - quite the sight!

Nancy's favorite thing about Buffy is that she always loves her unconditionally - she is a true sweetheart.

What would Buffy like to purchase at Colonial Jewelers if she were able to?

Nancy strongly believes that Buffy would want to purchase the 6.3 carat Mystic Topaz necklace, surrounded by 14 round brilliant cut diamonds, made of 14K white gold with a lobster clasp because it would lay nicely on her wide chest and make her feel like the princess she is.

Feel free to contact Nancy and let her know your thoughts about Buffy!

Meet Bentley!

Proudly weighing 4 pounds, Bentley is a 3.5 year old purebred Holland Lop bunny belonging to Nicole. He has beautiful brown eyes, black eye lashes, champagne colored fur, and patches of white on his tail and tummy.

Nicole got Bentley from a breeder at a pet store in Columbia, MD. Although he is a bunny, he sometimes has the personality of a dog or cat. He likes to play with other cats and dogs by chasing them around the house.

He is truly loved and this leads to him being spoiled. Sometimes when he doesn't get his way, he thumps his back feet really hard to make as much noise as possible to let everyone know he is mad. He won't settle down at night until his two stuffed animals are in his cage with him.

Like most snuggle bunnies, he enjoys snuggling with Nicole and her fiance on the couch. If you stop petting him, he will tug on your clothes until the petting resumes.

Nicole's favorite thing about Bentley is that he is very personable. He often acts like a dog or a cat, and when you are having a hard day, he will sit by your side and comfort you. Nicole also loves that he enjoys being pet.

Some of Bentley's quirks are: He uses a cat box. He grooms his stuffed animals! He loves to eat cheerios and baby carrots. He plays with ice cubes. Every morning at 5am, Bentley will religiously grab his food bowl in his mouth and fling it across the cage to let Nicole know he is ready for breakfast.

What would Bentley like to purchase at Colonial Jewelers if he were able to?

Nicole thinks Bentley would want to purchase a two-tone (stainless steel / 18k gold) Rolex watch to match his two-tone champagne colored fur.

Feel free to contact Nicole and let her know your thoughts about Bentley!

Sampson!

Meet our next featured pet - Sammy!

Sammy (full name Sampson), belongs to Sarah Beth. He is also called Sammers, Sammy dog, and Sampsonite. She got him from a breeder in West Virginia. He was the runt of the litter and she felt that made him special.

Sammy is a Mini Dachshund sporting a beautiful triple dapple medium hair coat made of gray, black and tan. He will turn 5 years old on February 28th and currently weighs 10 pounds.

Sarah Beth had a hard time deciding on his name, so she elicited the help of her 5 year old nephew to pick out the name, and Sampson suited his personality perfectly.

He loves everyone! Due to that fact, he is not a great protector dog. He also loves, loves, loves raw onions. Rawhides are also one of his absolute favorites. He has an extra canine tooth in his mouth and a floating rib in his chest!

Sarah Beth's favorite thing about him is his love for life. He is very daring. Being only 10 pounds, he cannot be unwatched around water. If you are at the beach, he will "chase" the waves, even if it means running straight into the ocean. If you are at a pool, he will jump right in. He has a zeal for life! Occasionally you can find Sammy doing the backstroke in the house - if he can't swim in the water, he will swim in the carpet!

The only toy that satisfies him is a rope because even the toughest of toys he destroys in an hour.

What would Sammy like to purchase at Colonial Jewelers if he were able to?

Sarah Beth insists that Sammy would choose this platinum ring with a 3 carat oval Ruby center stone, surrounded by 12 round brilliant cut diamond stones. This ring is sure to catch everyone's attention just like Sampson does wherever he goes.

Feel free to contact Sarah Beth and let her know your thoughts about Sammy!

We love our pets!

We are beginning to show off our pets to the world. Our hope is that as you get to know our pets, you will get to know our Colonial family better and feel a part of it!

Our first featured pet is William. William belongs to Sarah.

William currently weighs in at 43 pounds and is expected to grow to a hearty 60 pound dog. Although William's heritage is not fully known, he resembles a pit bull / boxer mix.

Sarah got William from the pound when he was just a small pup. He is growing leaps and bounds! Occasionally William will visit the store and he draws quite a crowd. All of us really enjoy his company.

Sarah's favorite thing about William is that he is the biggest snuggle bug in the world. In addition to his cuddling, he plays the role of Sarah's big bad watch dog.

William is quite the character. You can tell if he is being good or if he is being his alter ego (Bratty Bratterson). His ears tell all. When his ears are to the side, he is relaxed. When they are straight back, he is determined to be good. Watch out though, because when they are straight forward (bat ears), he is being bad and knows it!

He enjoys playing with other dogs, laying in the sun chewing sticks and posting himself at the front door as watchdog of all passerby's.

His best friends are Lenox, a boxer, and Alfie, a boston terrier.

What would William like to purchase at Colonial Jewelers if he were able to?

If we carried it, Sarah believes William would purchase a gold grill for his dashing teeth...but since we do not sell "grills", the Black Rhodium Diamond Cut necklace would suit him best - he most likely would wear it as a collar to make a statement.

Where Everyone Knows Your Name

We've fallen upon Bill Adkins' website, www.ayearonmarket.com and it is wonderful! He is taking one photo of Market St. every day, for a year. Check out his photos. It is so apparent by his photos that Frederick has a local, friendly downtown feel to it. If you look far enough back, you will even see some shots of our store! Enjoy!
